On top of it...

So this week, we were able to get the drop down navigation, all the pages connected and everything is working correctly as of right now.  We are waiting for everyone to contribute their artwork to build the gallery.  As of right now, only one student and one professor has replied.  Our group is planning on approaching everyone tomorrow during our classes and start collecting work.  I have also began working on the content that need to be created for the new pages we are including in the site.  I am really excited and proud of my group for us being on top of things and enjoying every moment of this process.  yayyyy

The Wonderful World of Frustration

Well, I am officially running into the wonderful world of frustration thanks to our drop down menu. I want it to be simple, clean and positioned just right.  The fact that I have a 17” computer definitely throws me off just because I want to space everything out and make it larger than what is standard size.  The links just seem too small, and I cant get them spaced out just the way I want.  I created the drop down menu through lists, unordered lists, css and a very simple jquery. I have taken advantage of the css and successfully formated the colors, sizes, etc. the only issue is I cant make each link its own specific width.  If I adjust the width, it adjusts on all of them.  We have some longer text for the links, “potential students” and “current students” which is causing the unbalanced feeling. I have applied different classes to the li attributes however it just screws it up more and causes the small widths to hide behind the other li attributes. Help?!

Proposal was passed!

We passed our proposal and now we can move on!  We have already developed the html for the page layouts with the dividers and also created and formatted the css.  I am very proud that we have completed one of the most crucial portions of the building process without any issues thus far.  Now we are beginning to add the content to the various pages, finalizing the details of the colors and completing the rest of the imagery.  I am not worried about having a completely functional site by next Tuesday.  Im really enjoying the project and am already very proud.

A Tease

Well we have finalized our site structure and created some mock ups that are almost ready for Tuesday.  I don't want to spoil the surprise but I will show you a brief simple mock-up for what we have designed along with our finalized structure.

On the roll....

Well we had a very productive meeting with each other and have finalized the site diagram and structure of all the folders within the site.  We each have specific duties to accomplish before the end of the weekend so we will be prepared for the presentation next Tuesday.  I am very happy with how easily our group agreed on the style and design for the site.  The list of my duties for the week include:
  • Gathering content for the ‘Internship’, Current Students - ‘News’, and Current Student - ‘Resources’ pages.
  • Create a drop box for the site
  • Find 3 good options for the drop down menu
  • Type site hierarchy
  • Download application for the program and include in external documents folder and share with the group
On Thursday we should have the colors and fonts determined so we can begin creating our mock up design.  We already have established what we want the site to look like and the professional, clean, yet fun feel we want to present.  Get excited!
